Who Are We?
Jade Rabbit is a family-friendly, queer run, worker owned restaurant in Portland’s Buckman neighborhood. Reservations are strongly encouraged: we get fully booked during peak times (weekend brunch, dinner everyday). Our space features handmade vegan dim sum, pan-Asian fare, tea service, sake, NA beverages, and cocktails.
Our Service
Our kitchen is small and we politely ask that you order your entire meal at one time in its entirety, as it is placed in a queue with the other tables. Instead of tipping, we add a 22% service fee to the end of every meal to ensure all workers at the Jade Rabbit receive a livable wage and benefits. We ask you to respect other guests and limit your dining experience to 90 minutes for smaller parties and 2 hours for larger groups. This allows us time to reset and seat other guests who are just as excited as you are to enjoy your food. We seat our last guests at 8:15pm currently and last call for kitchen is 8:30 at the moment.
Our Food
Our Dim Sum service is unique, our dishes are made to order. We feature vegan meats that were designed by Chef Cyrus. Our vegan meats are produced organically in Taiwan, made from non-GMO heirloom soy that has been fermented for a minimum of 3 years, allowing our bodies to fully digest the plant protein and the vital nutrients found in soy.
Allergies?
Please inform your server if you or anyone in your party has food allergies. We do have designated gluten-free cook/prep areas but cannot guarantee that some cross-contact won’t occur.
Lore
In Chinese Lore, the Jade Rabbit resides on the moon with the Taoist Moon Goddess Chang’e. According to legend the Jade Rabbit, by mandate from the Emperor, creates the immortal elixirs for the Celestial Gods. The Jade Rabbit is also said to have brought the first forms of medicine to the people of the earth in the form of dumplings. We believe food is medicine and compassion is a main ingredient in our cuisine.
